Program description

The course enhances knowledge & skills in developing and evaluating spatial interventions in urban planning & management, making appropriate use of geo-information science.

Addressing contemporary themes in urban planning and management, this course focuses on the development and evaluation of effective interventions, making appropriate use of geo-information technology. Themes addressed include: * land, land use and shelter (planned versus unplanned development) * infrastructure, transport and service provision * economic development and urban poverty * environment: hazards, pollution and solid waste. This course could be combined with the preceding course Analysing and Monitoring Urban Dynamics.

Admission requirements

Previous education

BSc degree from a recognized university, in a discipline relevant to the programme. Skills & experience with GIS & Remote Sensing.

Professional experience

Some years of work experience in urban planning and management is recommended.

IELTS overall band: 6.0, TOEFL computer based: 213, TOEFL internet based: 80, TOEFL paper based: 550, CAE: C1, CPE: C2
