Program description

The Land Development Strategies course will enable you to analyse and compare land policy issues in depth and to develop skills to design policy and programme responses to foster sustainable urban growth. If academic standards have been met, the participant will be awarded with credits for the Master course of IHS.

The course combines academic depth while maintaining a practical focus. Topics to be discussed during this specialization are: Land and Housing Markets and Policy Implementation; Housing Policies and Programme Implementation; Land Property Rights; Primer on Property Tax; Smart Growth and Land Use Planning; Spatial Analysis and GIS; Land Management Instruments and Large Urban Projects.

Participants will join the specialisation period of the Master Course. The course has a practical orientation, combining field experience with conceptual frameworks and methodologies. Lecturers will introduce key topics, which will be reinforced by readers, case studies, group discussions, assignments and exercises designed to draw on the accumulated expertise of the students.
