The course will guide participants through a large range of possible application areas of geo-information in urban planning and management, using case studies from real municipal spatial database.
The course gives an overview of a large range of application areas of geo-information science (GIS) for urban planning and management. It is showing examples of the use of geo-information techniques for effective task execution and problem solving in urban areas. It addresses the exhaustive spatial information need to better plan, monitor and evaluate for rapidly developing urban areas.
Any academically oriented professional who is active in urban planning and management and who uses or intends to use spatial data in planning and management tasks belongs to the target group, for example town and district planners, land (policy) officers, infrastructure and transport engineers and environmental planners.
The course is also highly relevant for staff at universities and non-governmental organizations in the field of urban planning and management who are interested in the use of geo-information technology.
