The Broadcast Management course will focus on the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed by senior managers working at organisational and departmental level in broadcast journalism and programming.
The Broadcast Management course is designed to equip managers working for broadcast media (in senior programme and/or journalism management) with the knowledge they need to drive organisational development in a changing media environment.
The Broadcast Management course will focus on the context in which the participating managers work, equipping them with a range of tools for analysing their situation as managers. Attention will be given to the changing media landscape and to the role and impact of innovation (in both technology and content) in driving the future of (broadcast) media management. There will be working visits to public and commercial broadcast organisations in the Netherlands to examine the impact of change and to discuss innovation and in particular the impact of introducing multimedia production on newsrooms and programming.
The course will include workshops devoted to editorial and financial management as well as to leadership and management styles best suited to working with journalistic and creative programme staff. In 2012, the course will coincide with RNTC’s Training the Trainers course, allowing the participating managers to analyze and discuss the potential role of training in identifying and correcting performance problems.
