Program description

The Strategic Product Design program focuses on strategic stage that precedes the actual development of a new product or service.

The emphasis of the program lies on translating corporate strategy in coherence with market developments and market opportunities into a sound product development portfolio.

Product Development is a science; great new products do not just come into being. They are meticulously conceived. Behind the very best products lies a process which begins with careful consideration of market needs, the competitive environment, consumer preferences, corporate strategy, the existing product and brand portfolio, and of course, form and function. The Strategic Product Design program gives you the tools to successfully explore and exploit market opportunities – and create great products – by thinking strategically about product design and development.

With the latest techniques in market and trend analyses and consumer research, you will gain insight into the processes that drive strategic product design. Other aspects that are covered in the program include: product launch, analysis of economic rationales, project leadership and the international dimension of product development. The Strategic Product Design program has been ranked among the top 30 design and business programmes in the world by Business Week.

Strategic Product Design graduates help companies to initiate, create and introduce strategically sound, commercially successful products and services for clients and customers in an international competitive environment.

Admission requirements

Previous education

BSc degree (or equivalent) of a high quality and level. The main subject of the BSc study should match the Strategic Product Design MSc-programme.

Professional experience

Relevant professional experience can sometimes compensate for deficiencies in educational background.
