Program description

Software Engineering is a programme about methods and processes of software development.

The Software Engineering program deals with every aspect of the broad and dynamic field of software engineering. You will acquire the necessary skills in order to complete complex software projects. Questions you will learn to solve include: how does one determine and interpret the needs of a client seeking to purchase or develop a new software system? How can you learn to recognise, resolve and prevent defects in a software system? How can theoretical knowledge and professional literature be applied in practice?

During the Software Engineering program, you will be confronted with the complexity of the professional field through various practical courses and group assignments. For example, you will learn to assess, systematically analyse and automatically test the quality of models, and acquire the skills you need to deal with the uncertainties and risks involved. The lecturers will also be devoting ample attention to the non-technical aspects of the profession. As a professional software engineer, you will not be operating in an isolated setting. Your area of work is dynamic, and is characterised by constantly changing applications, systems and interests. You will learn how to interpret and understand your clients’ wishes, cooperate efficiently and assess projects in terms of their feasibility and durability.
