Program description

The Master's programme in Logic is an interdisciplinary and international Research Master's programme that focuses on the central role of logic as mediator and tool for sciences and the humanities.

The programme enjoys a strong international reputation as an excellent research training programme. Graduates of the programme frequently move on to become key players in the international logical research community. The goal and the underlying spirit of the MSc programme in Logic is to connect traditional fundamental research in the formal sciences with a wide variety of applications that range from Information Sciences to Linguistics and Philosophy. The programme is based on a scheme known as the I³ system: Interdisciplinarity, Internationality and Individuality. Interdisciplinarity: We strongly believe that logic is an important research area that spans Mathematics, Computer science, Philosophy and Linguistics and has important applications in the social sciences. Internationality: The majority of students in come from outside the Netherlands. The wide variety of nationalities represented in the programme creates flexibility and encourages open and inquisitive minds. Individuality: Since the main goal of this programme is the formation of an individual research profile on the basis of each student's strengths and interests, there are very few required core courses.
