The one-year Master's programme in Slavonic Languages and Cultures offers a unique combination of courses from four major Slavonic traditions: the Russian, Czech, Polish and Serbian/Croatian.

The one-year Master's programme in Slavonic Languages and Cultures offers a unique combination of specialised and general courses covering a wide range of topics from four major Slavonic traditions: the Russian, Czech, Polish and Serbian/Croatian. The professors and lecturers are all well?known specialists. Slavonic Languages and Cultures at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) has a long-standing tradition in both literary scholarship and linguistics. The programme has also produced a number of well?known literary translators and lexicographers.

Admission requirements

Previous education

Applicants for the Master's programme should have at least a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Slavonic studies or a relevant field. The level of the Bachelor's degree must be comparable to that of a Dutch Bachelor's degree.

Grade average

An overall grade point average (GPA) of

B/3.0 (American system),
2.1 (an upper second class degree in the British system),
C (ECTS-system), or
7.0 (Dutch system).
