The Innovation Sciences program is about learning to understand technological innovation and how you can improve innovation and direct it. You will develop awareness of the wider international, socio-economic and regulatory contexts.
Innovation (processes) and technological change take place in an international context more and more. The program therefore has a strong international focus. Succesful innovations are dependent on technological development. However, the question whether an innovation ultimately becomes a success also depends on a range of social factors. The program takes this into account by combining knowledge of technology with that of social science disciplines.
The multidisciplinary nature of the program is reflected in the social sciences courses related to innovation and technology. Your program will be completed with an international internship and a Master’s project. This program integrates both social and technical knowledge and insight in relation to technology and innovation. In brief, this Master’s program focuses on the question of which technical, economic, social, legal, psychological and ethical aspects need to be taken into account to allow the formulation of effective policy through which technological development and innovation can be initiated in the desired direction.
Theories, Methodologies and Concepts Regarding Technology, Innovation and Policy; Applications of These Theories, Methodologies and Concepts; Multidisiplinary Projects; Optional Clusters of Courses (e.g. Engineering Courses; Innovation and IPR; Technology and Development Studies, Energy and Sustainable Development, Innovation Management; Technology and European Integration); MSc Thesis.
Graduates are able to develop, assess and provide advice on strategic interventions to stimulate and regulate innovation and technological development on behalf of governments, international agencies, NGOs, companies, branche organizations and so on.

In this specialization you will study Consumer behavior, Life Online, Super Crunchers and Embodied and Embedded Computing.
Innovation and Sustainability
In this specialization you will study the following courses: 1) System Innovations and Strategic Niche Management, 2) Energy and Economy, 3) Technology and Development and 4) Ethics and the Risk Society.
Knowledge Economy and Society
This specialization encompasses four principlal courses that are part of a multidisciplinary framework that bridges the concepts of creation, use and consequences of knowledge. 1) Inside the knowledge system, 2) Infonomics, 3) Knowledge infrastructures in a globalizing world and 4) Innovation and intellectual property.
Technology, Globalization and Europeanization
In this specialization you will learn to interpret an analyze the dymanic of globalization. Courses include: Technology and Globalization, Technology and European Integration, Development Economics, Transnational Critical Infrastructure.
