Program description

The Innovation Management discipline studies the management of innovation processes and develops theories, tools and techniques to make businesses more innovative. For example by strategic alliances.

The program conveys scientific theories, tools and techniques to manage and improve innovations both within and across companies. You will learn ways to analyze the current innovative performance of a company, how to explain it in terms of quality, cost and time, and how to improve this performance by re-engineering innovation processes. You will experience what it means to carry out research yourself, to gain new insights and to apply the acquired knowledge in the many projects.

As a graduate of this Master’s degree program you will be well prepared for a broad range of positions and careers. For example you could work as aproduct development manager in a production or service company, as a purchasing and inventorymanager, as a strategy consultant, or as an entrepreneurship or alliances manager. Starting your own company or following a career in research are also among the options.

Core courses include New Product Development Management; Marketing & Innovation; Project & Process Management; Human Aspects of Product Development; Multivariate Statistics; Design Science Methodology; Philosophy of Management Science; System Dynamics.

Objectives
The Innovation Management master program conveys scientific theories, tools and techniques to manage and improve innovations both within and across companies. You will learn how to apply the knowledge that you gain in research and industrial applications. You will also learn ways to analyze the current innovative performance of a company, how to explain it in terms of quality, cost, and time, and how to improve this performance by redesigning innovation processes.

Master Thesis
The Master’s thesis project in the Innovation Management program is both a research and a design assignment where you are expected to apply the theories and skills you have developed in the program. Moreover, you are expected to contribute to new insights in the field of Innovation Management. Most students (>90%) choose to conduct their thesis work on-site, at a company, while some students prefer to doe their thesis on campus.

Previous education

BSc in engineering or other quantitative or science background.

Grade average

For admission a minimum of 75% CGPA. For entry to Talent Scholarship Program a minimum of 80% CGPA.
