The interaction between technology and their users is central in the Human-Technology Interaction master. Students acquire basic psychological knowledge and learn to apply this to improve existing, or design new technologies.
The HTI Master’s program provides fundamental knowledge from the psychological sciences. This knowledge is then applied during the program within a technology domain of your choice:Information and Communication Technology, Sustainable Energy or the Built Environment. The program focuses on new opportunities and problems arising from these rapidly changing technology domains.
Besides courses, you will carry out two projects as part of the HTI design specialization. The second year of the Master’s program is taken up by your international semester, your research project and your Master’s project. The research project consists of your first empirical research project, which is carried out in a team. Your project consists of a research project carried out individually under the supervision of one of the researchers. As a graduate of the program you will be able to assess the viability of new technological developments in relation to human constraints, preferences and capabilities. After this program you will be able to find employment in various academic government agencies, companies and organizations, working in consultancy or in research & development departments.
Human-Technology Interaction Curriculum
In the first year of the Master program Human-Technology Interaction you will study the following subjects:
- Behavioral courses

The second year of the Human-Technology Interaction program consists of:
- International Track
- Master thesis
The first year starts with 15 elective courses that deepen or broaden your knowledge. You can find a description of the elective courses on the website. At the end of the first year the internship takes place by one of the participating research groups. The second year comprises of the individual space and the graduation project. The individual space can be an extensive literature survey, additional elective courses, a combination of both or an individual or team project.
The track covers aspects of fluid and solid mechanics, modeling, analytical, numerical and experimental methods, and optimization. The applications range from systems at nano, micro and millimeter scale through large-scale industrial processes to environmental issues. Graduates will be able to play a significant role in design and project teams working on a broad range of industrial applications.
