The world is floating on information. A large and growing share is taken by geo-information. Geomatics is the science and technology of the 3D acquisition, processing and application of geo-informatio
This chain starts with the collection of raw data and ends with a geo-information product, often a visualisation. In many cases, a lot of processing steps are required, varying from photogrammetric techniques to complex spatial analyses with GIS technology.
Decisions involving geo-information are growing more important. In response to this development, Delft University of Technology has started the MSc in Geomatics in 2005. The programme educates to interdisciplinary engineers who will contribute to the entire information chain, from data acquisition methods and data processing techniques to applications in decision-making processes. The MSc in Geomatics is very internationally oriented with participants from countries all over the world.
Graduates in Geomatics have a qualification in a very new, exciting and modern field of expertise. Graduates thus have many excellent career opportunities in a job market with an increasing number of vacancies. They typically find positions in national ministries and a wide variety of industrial companies, consultancies, and research organisations.
