Geoinformatics is a powerful tool to create maps, integrate information, visualise scenarios, solve complicated problems, present ideas, and develop effective solutions.
As per the current trends, the advanced techniques like Remote sensing and Global positioning System(GPS), if integrated with Geographic Information System, can provide authentic and accurate geo-spatial information on earth surface features and processes involved. The Geoinformatics technology is most relevant where decisions are to be taken on issues like, natural resources assessment, surveying, monitoring and more importantly protection of natural environment including disaster management and mitigation.
Most recent developments in web & Mobile technologies have provided an impetus to this. Geoinformatics has become an important requirement of Information Society and for civec amenities. There is a growing need for professionals in the field of Geoinformation technology, who can prepare, maintain and update geographic databases, and develop new Geoinformatics tools. There is growing awareness in govt. and nongovernment sector on genration and use of such database.
Common concepts and theory of Geo-information technology, e.g. computer science, Remote Sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Cartographic visualization and Geo-information Management, MSc research work.
To achieve critical understanding and competence in the development of systems for the acquisition, processing, transformation, extraction, storage, presentation and/or use of Geo-information.
