Program description

The Logistics Management Systems program is a 2-year programme intended for young people who are interested in broadening and integrating their knowledge and skills in the field of logistics.

Logistics Management Systems involves the organization, planning and control of the goods flow during sourcing, production and distribution in both the business and service sectors, as well as the logistical aspects of workflow management. Designing involves the entire trajectory from analysis, specification, creation and implementation of a Logistics Management System.

The Logistics Management Systems course covers aspects, such as the managerial structure, the accompanying information system and the logistical-technical layout. The objective is to allow business processes to work optimally, in term of costs, time and quality. LMS is a typically profession-oriented program that alternates theory and practical assignment.

Program Objectives
The curriculum consists of a well-balanced combination of subjects. The package of subjects is constantly adapted to current developments in the field by means of guest lecturers and interviews. Education is small scale and highly interactive. Subjects are generally completed with a group assignment. Each trainee has to perform two Quick Scans and carries out an in-company Logistics Design Project to complete the program.

Why Study Logistics Management Systems?

The designer program Logistics Management Systems (LMS) is a 2-year program intended for young people who have already obtained a Master's degree in industrial engineering or a related field and who are interested in broadening and integrating their knowledge and skills in the field of logistics.

The program is specifically focused on designing Logistics Management Systems and is one of several technological designer programs offered by Eindhoven University of Technology, 3TU. School for Technological Design, Stan Ackermans Institute. All courses in the program are taught in English.

Upon successful completion, participants in the program obtain the title of Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng, put behind their names).

1st year
First year consists of core courses focussing on the development of logistics design skills, and solving small scale pratical design problems.

After 1st year
The second year of the Design Traineeship in Logistics Management Systems course consists of two logistics Quick Scans and a full skill logistics design project in industry supervised by professional design mentors.

Admission requirements

Previous education

MSc degree in industrial engineering or a related field.

Knowledge minimum

Focus on design. Good intellectual, conceptual and interpersonal skills. Good oral and writing skills.
