Mechanical engineering combines subjects from mathematics, physics and chemistry. Aspects taught during the program include heat and flow, mechanics and dynamics (the control of machines and systems) and properties of materials. But as an aspiring mechanical engineer you need to have more than technical knowledge alone. Later you’ll often be at the center of a project team of specialists from different disciplines. That’s why a lot of attention is given in the program to the social and communication aspects of your development. As well as creativity and innovative abilities, mechanical engineers are also expected to be able to work well in teams.

What is mechanical engineering?
Mechanical constructions are all around us. For example in mobile phones, production machines, hospitals, solar panels, cars and even in roller coasters. Often in places where you wouldn’t immediately expect them. A mechanical engineer thinks up, designs and makes new products and processes, but also improves and optimizes existing technologies. As you can already see, mechanical engineering is a broad discipline with a high industrial and social relevance.
