Program description

How can you use high technology or new media to create user interaction? The Creative Technology programme challenges you to develop innovative applications while using the latest technology.

In the Creative Technology bachelor's programme, taught entirely in English, you’ll learn to adapt state-of-the-art technology or new media in an original/appealing way to create interaction with or between users. You will work on applications that make life healthier, easier and more fun. Think of a staircase that is so appealing that people would prefer it instead of using an escalator.

Theme-based projects challenge you to think about smart applications of technology and new media. You will learn to apply knowledge from various fields such as sensor and media technology, human behaviour and communication. Business acumen is also important, because a design will only go into production if the business case is sound. You will be trained as a designer with technical expertise and a sensitivity to social developments.

You will work on the cutting edge of high technology, while maintaining a clear human touch. You’ll be a real asset to employers in the creative industry, new media, product design or communications.

Creative Technology Program Outline

The Creative Technology program is a three year English taught Bsc course. Once you take your Bachelor’s degree, you are familiar with all facets. You will follow courses in technology, perception and use. You explore, practice and improve your creative and academic skills in the Creative Applications projects. Throughout the years you are on your way to become a designer of digital applications.

Creative Technology builds upon two principles for your learning: learning by doing, and tutoring. The program is organized around the idea of “learning by doing”. Many courses are project based, or centred on practical assignments. They challenge you to explore and experiment. Learning by doing contributes to your motivation and ambition.

To learn effectively, you need more than motivation and ambition. Reflection and feedback are important. Supervisors for courses and projects will give you this feedback. In addition, each Creative Technology has a tutor. The tutor looks with you at your progress in learning. Tutors help you to reflect on your achievements, and to set goals for yourself.

You will collect your progress and your personal development in a personal portfolio. The tutor will challenge you to pass your exams with the best possible portfolio. Your portfolio is not just a showcase. It is a proof of your qualities as a “Creative Technologist.”
