Program description

The bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature centres on literary texts from all periods, genres and language areas. You learn to analyse and interpret the composition, structure, style and theme of poetry, prose and drama. But comparative literature raises more questions. Must the end of a literary novel be taken seriously or actually figuratively? Do certain poems of Gerrit Achterberg have a literal or figurative meaning? And has the appreciation for the novel Max Havelaar of Multatuli remained the same over the years? You can, for example, also compare the literature from various countries (comparative literature). After this training you can enter the labour market or you can opt for a master's degree.
