Program description

During the Bachelor Biomedical Engineering (BME) at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) you will learn how to implement technological methods to solve biomedical questions.

The human body resembles a machine in many ways. Energy-relocation, measure and regulations systems, and safety precautions: our body is a highly advanced machine. It possesses recovery mechanisms, it grows, and it adapts to the environment. Biomedical problems are therefore often complicated ones where a lot of different disciplines play a part. Herein lies the enormous adventure and challenge of working in biomedical technology. Do you want to develop new technologies to improve Healthcare? The Bachelor Biomedical Engineering offers you an excellent foundation!

Due to the overwhelming demand from the medical world for engineers with insight into the complex human body, the TU / e as the first in the Netherlands started the Biomedical Technology. In ten years this training evolved into a completely new engineering discipline.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is specialized in research and teaching. In your first year you will be involved in biomedical research. State of the art facilities will be at your disposal. The Biomedical Engineering program is offered in collaboration with Maastricht University Medical Centre, Utrecht University and University Medical Centre Utrecht. You will benefit from expertise from world-renowned researchers.
