Program description

The bachelor's degree in Biology and Medical Laboratory Research centres on research of material of a divergent nature and origin, varying from organisms (animals) to blood samples, tissues, cultivated cells, foodstuffs and medicines. You conduct this research in medical, biochemical or biological laboratories.

In the biological sector you study processes in organisms. You moreover work on the adjustment and modification of organisms so that they are extra useful to man. You develop, for example, bacteria that degrade environmentally contaminating substances or raw materials for medicines. You use the results of this kind of research to solve practical issues concerning nature management, the environment or health. In the medical sector (hospitals or laboratories) you examine patient material. You conduct for example, microscopic research on pathogens (like bacteria and viruses) or chemical research on blood and urine. After this training you can enter the labour market or you can opt for a master's degree.
