Program description

The bachelor's degree in Media and Culture centres on the study (of the cultural functions) of art. Important research questions are: what are the characteristic elements of art? Which functions does art fulfil? How does art function within society? These questions are discussed during the training departing from a theoretic and historic perspective. In this context the emphasis is placed on the history of art and media, the philosophy, theory and analysis of art and media (art philosophy, art science, semiotics, hermeneutics) and the organisation of the production, distribution and reception of art (art policy and art management). The training has five art disciplines in which you can specialise: literature, theatre, (classical and popular) music, visual arts and film or television. After this training you can enter the labour market or you can opt for a master's degree.
