Over the last decade, outbound student mobility in Morocco, Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia has risen sharply. According to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics outbound mobility from this region has increased by almost 25%. This is largely due to rising GDP in these countries. Morocco sends more than 63,000 students abroad, Egypt over 43,000. Algeria and Tunisia, with 31,000 and 24,000 respectively, are also major study abroad markets. It will come as no surprise that France is a popular study abroad destination for North African students. It recent years the popularity of Northern Europe and North America has increased.
