University description
VU University Amsterdam was founded in 1880 and has, ever since, taken a distinctive approach to education and research. The university prides itself on being an organisation by and for the people. VU University encourages independent ideation among its students, researchers and (teaching) staff. The logo of the university, the Griffin, symbolises this core value.
VU is an accredited, state-funded university with about 23,000 students and 2,500 academic staff. With 18 English taught bachelor programs and over 100 Master courses, there is a wide choice of study options. VU University Amsterdam offers a high impact and inspirational educational setting in which students are encouraged to develop their potential.

VU University has an extensive international partner network. VU’s students can opt to go on an exchange to any one of these institutions. Partners include: University College London (UK), Stellenbosch (South Africa), NTU Taiwan, KU Leuven (Belgium), to name but a few.
