The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is one of the largest universities in Europe and a core member of the prestigious of the League of European Research Universities. In the QS world ranking by subject, UvA holds 22nd place for Linguistics, 33rd for Sociology, 37th for Philosophy, 40th for Geography and 47th for IT. In the Times Higher ranking it holds 92nd place.
