The UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education offers education and conducts research in the field of Water Management and Infrastructure. UNESCO-IHE is a United Nations initiative that aims to expand awareness and skills among professionals in the field of Water Management. UNESCO-IHE contributes towards a sustainable future and the development of Third World Countries.

UNESCO IHE is the largest Water Education facility in the world, and the only institution in the UN system authorized to confer accredited MSc degrees. The institute is instrumental in strengthening the efforts of other universities and research centers to increase the knowledge and skills of professionals working in the water sector.
Education
UNESCO-IHE offers four fully accredited International Master of Science programs targeted at professionals who wish to acquire new insights into the global water agenda. UNESCO-IHE MSc programs consist of lectures, workshops, role-plays, video, Internet, study tours, and field visits. The curriculum focuses on the development of an integrated approach to water management issues. This means that knowledge should be directly applicable to real life situations. This approach is at the heart of its educational success. Graduates from UNESCO IHE are highly sought after in the water management industry because they know how to apply their skills to solving current water management issues.

UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education has a large network of partner institutes around the world. It offers joint programs with the following partner institutes: Ain Shams University Cairo (Egypt), Asian Institute of Technology Bangkok (Thailand), Hohai University Nanjing (China), Sriwijaya University Palembang, (Indonesia), Dundee University (UK). Partner universities include: University of Brasilia (Brazil), Beijing Normal University (China) and the Technical University of Panama.
