Scholarship description
The MENA scholarship program is intended for talented students from the Middle East and Africa. The scholarship program is initiated and funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The MENA scholarship program was set up in 2007 as a result of the growing interest in both the Arab world and the Netherlands, to strengthen mutual ties in the areas of education, culture and trade. The program enables mid career professionals to do a short course in the Netherlands at a selected number of universities. Each years around 120 scholarships are available which are distributed among the participating countries. Ideally, half of the scholarships go to female applicants.
The MENA scholarship aims to contribute to capacity building within a wide range of governmental, non-governmental and private organizations in seven selected countries:
- Algeria
- Iraq
- Lebanon
- Morrocco
- Oman
- Syria
- Tunesia
The MENA scholarship program is targeted at mid career professionals who are employed by organizations or institutions operating in one of the following areas:
- Water Management
- Business Administration
- Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries
- Geographical Information Sciences
