Program description
The master's degree in Religious Studies is a continuation and extension of a bachelor's degree. The training centres on the study of religion in the western culture. You can find religion everywhere, for example in art, politics and self-fulfilment. To better understand a culture the study of religions in that society thus provides a good line of approach. You gain insight into Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. You also learn to analyse various religious phenomena. In this context significant themes like fundamentalism, religion and violence but also religious rituals and dealing with religion are discussed. Religious plurality in the western culture plays a key role. Yet the mutual relation between the western and Arab world is also taken into account.
