Program description
The MSc in Urban Management and Development: Urban and Regional Development Strategies analyzes integrated strategies to develop cities and regions, exposes you to the latest concepts and practices and provides you with the tools to develop realistic and sound strategies that can be implemented.
The core of the master analyses Urban Development Challenges and Management Solutions to Make Cities Work. This specialization focuses on Concepts for Development Strategies and Tools for Strategy Development and Implementation. An optional module can be selected on: Urban Governance, Finance, Social Development, Land, or: Environment and Infrastructure Management.
The MSc in Urban Management and Development: Urban and Regional Development Strategies makes strong use of worldwide case studies to ensure maximum learning from both theory and its application in practice. Participants will conduct research and write their thesis – non-compulsory in their home country - within the 'Urban and Regional Development Strategies' specialization.
The focus of the Urban and Regional Development Strategies specialization is on strategies for local economic development, carefully balanced with sustainability. The specialization makes strong use of an experiential case-based approach to ensure maximum learning from both theory and its application in practice.

The Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS) is an international centre of excellence of the School of Economics (ESE) and the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) of the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
