Program description

The master's degree in modern Greek Language and Culture is a continuation and extension of a bachelor's degree. The training centres on the modern Greek language and world (19th-21st century). You gain insight into the development as from the Byzantine and Osman (Turkish) period and into the relations between the Greek world and its environs (Western Europe, South-eastern Europe and the Near East). You pay attention to the spoken and written command of modern Greek and to the stages this language went through as from antiquity up to today. You also study the modern and historical linguistics, the modern literature, the (cultural) history and older texts. You can follow a part of the training at a Greek university.
