Program description
Five universities across Europe, specialising in communication and public relations in international professional contexts, have joined forces to offer the joint Master in International Communication.
The Master in International Communication (MIC) is a postgraduate fulltime programme offered by the Geert Hofstede Consortium. The programme is for students with a bachelor's degree in communication, or related field, or those with extensive work experience.
The International Communication program is a full-time study over three semesters (90 credits). Semester one is undertaken at one of the 5 partner universities, and the second semester at a second partner university where students complete three specialisations. During the third semester, students complete the graduation project.
This consortium consists of:
- The Netherlands: Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen
- The United Kingdom: Leeds Metropolitan University
- Italy: University of Languages and Communication, Milan
- Lithuania: Vilnius University
- Bulgaria: New Bulgarian University, Sofia
The Master in International Communication is a joint program, developed in close cooperation between the consortium partners. Ongoing harmonisation of the curriculum, the assessment criteria and procedures insure comparability of the program.
The course will prepare communication professionals for their tasks and responsibilities in a multi-cultural and international environment. Diversity is a key element.
A core program will be offered by all universities, and each will offer three specialisations to be followed by students abroad. Student mobility in the second semester is compulsory. The master’s thesis will be written under the supervision of two universities, both awarding graduate degrees.
The course will be based on competence-based learning. Students will work on ‘real life’ cases brought in by companies and (governmental and other) agencies. The course is offered in English to an international student body.
Graduates receive two degrees and a certificate from the Geert Hofstede Consortium.
