Program description

The Master in International Leisure and Tourism Studies is grounded in an integrated leisure concept and is approached from the economic service management perspective. The Master program is unique in its integration of leisure and tourism. The emphasis is on the sustainable development of leisure and tourism, with quality of community life serving as an important frame of reference. The program uses a holistic, interdisciplinary approach. Students can opt to specialize in any one of the following leisure sectors: Tourism, Recreation, Sports, Events and Conventions, Media, Education, and Culture and Arts.

The Master of International Leisure and Tourism Studies consists of the following modules:
• Quality of Leisure and Tourism
• Policy and Planning for Leisure and Tourism
• Market Value Creation
• Sustainable Value Creation
• Research
• Personal Value Creation
• Electives

Program Objectives
To develop the student’s intellectual skills and competencies i.e. to assist the student to develop, in the field of services, a way of independent thinking and working, based on academic, professional, and international expertise. The level of achievement required is that appropriate to a Master’s degree of a Dutch university of professional education.
