Program description
Building engineers have a high degree of responsibility in finding the right balance between science, technology and design. It also includes economic, political and environmental aspects.
A key characteristic of the program is interdisciplinarity. Based on your own discipline, you will learn to understand problems of other disciplines. This will be important in your future career, because the design process is becoming more complex and the number of specialists involved is growing. Through project learning, you will develop a design-oriented approach based on independent analytical ability, synthetic skills and the many opportunities offered by information technology. Also essentials as communication skills, presentation techniques, a scientific approach and a fair share of creativity is required in the design process. You can choose to graduate in the specialization that best matches your abilities and interests.

Whatever your preferences, this program offers you a wide range of opportunities to choose from since students themselves define the focus of their programs. To support students in choosing a suitable program a portfolio approach is part of the program involving regular discussions with one of the tutors involved in the Master’s program.
Subjects
Structural Design and Construction Technology; Architectural Design and Engineering; Building Physics and Systems; Design and Decision Support Systems; Urbanism and Management.
Architecture, Building and Planning Specializations
Within the master's degree program in Architecture, Building and Planning, you can graduate in six specializations:
Architecture
In the Architecture major, you develop an in-depth, innovative design attitude based on the architecture with which you orient yourself in collaboration between the different architectural disciplines.
Building Physics and Services
The aim of the Building Physics and Services major is to acquire new knowledge and integrate and develop design methods that lead to a sustainable, healthy, comfortable and productive indoor and outdoor environment.
Building Technology and Construction Technology
The Building Technology and Construction Technology track focuses on the technical aspects of building in relation to social themes such as sustainability.
Real Estate Management & Development
Real estate management can be regarded as a specialism of evaluation and calculation in which structural and engineering knowledge and experience are combined with market insight and operational analysis to form the basis for real estate management and development.
Structural Design
The aim is for the student to take the competencies he or she has acquired and develop these in a practical situation. Every students is assigned a mentor to supervise the elective components in the Master program.
