Web Science combines computer science with other disciplines to understand how the Web was created, is used and will develop. In Web Science you help create solutions for new developments.
Could you imagine a world without the Web? KPN's -Always Online" is the reality of our daily lives. You regularly check your TV guide, whether it's going to rain, or check out the latest film clips on YouTube. But what's behind this online world? The Web is a synthetic world artificially created by people, generating new behavioral patterns, economic opportunities, need for new law and legislation.
Web Science attempts to understand the Web, not only from a technical perspective but also in terms of its use. Why do new services exist? Who pays for them? How did the idea to Twitter, Flickr or Hyves begin? Why do so many people Twitter and go online to be visible to the entire world?
Web Science is a major which formally is part of the Bachelor's program Computer Science & Engineering (Technische Informatica). After graduation in this major you receive the diploma of the Bachelor's program Computer Science & Engineering (Technische Informatica). with specialisation Web Science, and the degree of Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science & Engineering (Technische Informatica).
