Program description
The Liberal Arts & Sciences approach to learning is aimed at training students to deal with the complexity, diversity and change of present-day society.
Students gain broad knowledge of the wider world, but also study one area of interest more deeply. The study programme at LUC The Hague takes three years of two semesters each. Each of the six semesters consists of two blocks. LUC The Hague courses are typically 5 EC and are usually completed in one block. Some large courses are 10 EC and take two consecutive blocks to complete.
LUC The Hague offers a broad, flexible and interdisciplinary curriculum, focused on enabling each student to design their own programme of study in accordance with their own personal interests and ambitions. Within this menu of choices there are a number of concentrations that we identity as ‘majors,’ which count for a minimum of 45% of an individual’s programme. Students can assemble these majors as they go along, following their interests as they evolve, or they can target one right from the start.
Objectives
The general education programme is called 'Global Challenges' (25 EC) and is aimed at educating students to contribute to solutions for these challenges in a positive way. All students are therefore required to take four general education courses which contribute to their broad perspective on dealing with these challenges as well as introducing them to several fields of study.
