Program description
In the International Management programme you will learn the ins and outs of doing business internationally
Introduction to International Management
Would you like a career in international business and marketing? Do you follow the business and finance news ahead of any other news? Would you like to learn what the financial figures of a business can tell? Do you have a commercial mind? Would you like to learn how to set up an international business? If you answer confirmative on two or more of these questions, International Management might well be the study for you.
Why study International Management?
International companies increasingly need people who can handle and initiate international business in a world that becomes smaller through new developments and communication techniques. People who can work with different cultures, who can speak the main business languages professionally and who are willing and able to initiate growth. You will be given the theoretical tools and practical experience to confidently start an international career. You can grow into a management position within five years.
Subjects
International Management is one of five programmes at the HvA University of Applied Sciences to be taught entirely in English. Our fully accredited programme includes such diverse subjects as Strategic Marketing, Import and Procurement, Export Management, Critical Thinking, Personal Development, along with several foreign languages. A six-month exchange and internship form part of the programme, giving you the best possible combination of theory and practice.
Objectives
n the International Management programme you will learn the ins and outs of doing business internationally. You will also learn to communicate in english and a second foreign language of your choice. Having successfully completed the programme, you can work in different departments, such as Marketing, HR or Finance, due to the wideness of the IBMS studies and the multiple choices for specialization.
Career Prospects
As a graduate of International Management you might become part of a project team to develop a market abroad with the existing product base of a company. You will implement your education by analysing the market and writing an export business plan that will contain a layout of the market, how to approach it, who should be targeted, which entry mode should be used, how to position the company and, very important, what it will cost both in money as in other resources. Alumni of International Management also work in more specialised roles like product management or they have started their own (trading)business. Anyhow, you will need the entrepreneurial skills and hands-on mentality that is required during your education at the HvA HES. All courses are in English which will give you the advantage to exceed your fellow graduates from other business schools when it comes to English proficiency. A half year exchange and internship are part of the programme.
