Program description
International Business and Management Studies is a four-year, full-time international bachelor degree programme in Business Administration (B BA).
In today's ever-changing business environment, going international is the key to success. European unification, trading blocs, communication technologies, Internet innovation and the rise of China and India have changed the world forever. The International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) full-time bachelor's degree programme will prepare you for meeting the challenges of the global workplace. With diverse methodologies, including lectures, case studies and project groups, the programme focuses on enhancing business fundamentals and developing the skills required to manage cultural, social and linguistic diversity. You will develop the global perspective, critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to manage effectively in an international environment.
International Business and Management Studies Program Content
Study Program
International Business and Management Studies is a four-year, full-time international bachelor's degree program in Business Administration (BBA). It is designed to meet the ever-changing needs of international business. It is taught entirely in English - the international language of business. Inholland University of Applied Sciences strives to prepare its students to perform well in today's ever-changing and complex society. Working closely with our business partners, we have drawn up a skills profile that any budding professional ought to possess in order to find employment in an international business environment.
The programme allows students with excellent study results to obtain a BBA within 3 years. After the first year, these students are assessed before they can be admitted to this programme. One of the requirements is the prior completion of a propaedeutic diploma in one year. The programme is similar in workload to a 4-year programme, but it can only be taken by highly motivated students.
Major/Minor
Like all bachelor's degree programs at Inholland University of Applied Sciences, International Business and Management Studies is based on the major/minor model. The program consists of a major subject and a differentiation minor. The major focuses on Business and Management studies. It covers all the competencies necessary to be a professional in an international business environment. These courses will be covered in your first and second year of the program. The differentiation minor will allow you to mold your study profile to suit your own personal interests and ambitions, enabling you to distinguish your degree from the rest.
Minors can include specialist business courses, a second language and cultural studies, such as: International Management, Asian Business Studies, Corporate Finance, Human Resource Management, International Management, International Trade China, Doing Business in a Global Environment, Marketing, Psychology at Work.
Work Placement
In your third year, you will do a work placement. This will allow you to put the knowledge and experience you have gained over the previous two years into practice. Work placements can be completed anywhere in the world. You will work for a real international company for five months. Your student advisors will stay in close contact with you and your employer to ensure that all parties involved are benefiting from the experience.
International Business and Management Studies Career Prospects
The bachelor's degree in International Business and Management Studies prepares students for a position at an internationally oriented organization. Specific language training and courses in management, accounting, economics and marketing are key elements. After the completion of the training you can explore the international market and gear manufacturer, product and buyer to each other. You also deploy activities in the area of promotion, advertising, sales policy and distribution. You are familiar with the latest social and political developments at the most important (Dutch) commercial partners.IBMS graduates occupy positions in Finance, Human Resource Management, Communication, Marketing, Export & Import departments. Alternatively, you can enroll on a master's degree program.
