Program description
During this study program, you will study cultures and development issues around the world, near and far. (Taught in Dutch)
Introduction to Anthropology and Development Studies
Anthropology and Development Studies examines societies and their cultures. How do (and did) people live and work together? How do they provide form and content to their lives? Which customs, opinions, values, beliefs and problems do they have? This science also studies problems in developing countries such as poverty, over population, environmental degradation, violence and conflicts.
Anthropology specialization
Anthropologists from Nijmegen carry out research around the globe in both agricultural and modern industrial societies. Politics, economy and religion are studied jointly.
Development Studies specialization
Development Studies focuses on examining problems in developing countries such as poverty, over-population, environmental degradation, violence and conflicts. These problems are examined and associated from an economic, political and socio-cultural perspective. During the final year you will carry out research in a developing country. An important sector this study program trains you for is the design, execution and evaluation of development policy at a national and international level.
