As a selective and residential honours college AUC attracts students from all over the world. They engage on a daily basis in intensive and small-scale seminars with high calibre international staff. Discussions start from the “Big Questions" in science and society and lead to in-depth study in a wide range of disciplines. Substantial emphasis is placed on the sciences, including interdisciplinary themes such as: Health and Well-being; Energy, Climate and Sustainability; and Life, Evolution, and the Universe. Other themes are: Social Systems; and Cities and Cultures. As an AUC student you create your own individual study programme, choosing from among the many courses offered in the sciences, social sciences and humanities. Your course options are influenced by your choice of theme and major. Your personal AUC tutor supports you in this process, to ensure you put together a solid and coherent programme. AUC enrolls up to 50% science majors.
