University Master Degree Programs in the Netherlands

Master degree programs offered by Research Universities and Institutes for International Education take 1 or 2 years to complete. Master programs that take 2 years to complete usually have a research component. These programs are called research master programs. Master degree programs lead to an accredited MA, MSc., LLM or MBA diploma. Master programs offered by Universities of Applied Sciences lead to a professional master diploma.

University PhD Degree Programs in the Netherlands

PhD degree programs are only offered by Research Universities and Institutes for International Education. PhD programs will usually take 4 years to complete and lead to an official PhD or Doctoral degree. There are several ways in which you can study for a PhD diploma. Some universities offer a fixed program that takes 4 years to complete, consisting of course work and research assignments. Other universities offer PhD tracks that include teaching assignments. If this is the case a salary is given to the PhD student.
