Wealth and prosperity has also lead to a sharp increase in the demand for higher education. At this point, the demand is far greater than the supply of university degree programs. This is why an increasing number of Turkish students is looking to study abroad. The large supply of scholarships for Turkish students is also aiding the mobility. See the Scholarships for Turkish students section for more info.
At this point, one third of young Turkish students cannot enroll. In addition, the tuition at Private universities in Turkey is considered very expensive. These developments have lead to Turkey becoming one of the leading markets for student recruitment in Europe.
